TSE History
The idea of Tri Sport Epping Triathlon Club was the brainchild of it's Founder Member and now Honorary President Brian Daley MBE. In September 1987 Brian invited three colleagues to discuss the possibilities of setting up a triathlon club, they were Robbie Aryton, James Chandler and Kate Gadsby. Triathlon was a relatively new endurance sport, but many were watching the Hawaii Ironman and other high profile events, dreaming of competing in this buzz sport. By November of the same year the group of 4 had formed a committee and organised their first event.
On the 22 November a crowd of 18 were attracted to the first Tri Sport Epping Mini Triathlon Event which was a great success. Word quickly spread that triathlon was the activity to get into and before long the newly formed committee had organised a mini series and the numbers soared to 45! Tri Sport Epping was officially born and growing in numbers by the end of 1987 and early 1988.
From those early days of 1987 to the present day, the club has never stood still. Tri Sport members work tirelessly to keep the club ticking over, making it what it is today.
